Anthemis Nobilis is an absolutely Irpinian specialty, the result of the infusion of the medicinal plant of the same name in pure alcohol. According to an ancient legend, emerald drops flowed from one of the columns of the Temple of Cybele, right there where the Montevergine Abbey was built around 1100, a few kilometers from Avellino. It happened that a young shepherd from Irpinia collected these drops to bring them to those who were sad and disheartened. In the following years it was discovered that the dripping was the work of some plants growing at the top of the column; the Anthemis Nobilis, precisely.
It is a liqueur with a strongly penetrating odor and a variously bitter flavour. Marked antispasmodic, aperitif and digestive qualities.
